Modern Family's Sofia Vergara is one step closer to winning the role of beauty salon owner Daniela in the musical movie version of Broadway's In the Heights.
The actress, who just signed on as spokesperson for XfinityTV.com/latinoTV, a destination for Spanish-language entertainment, told me that Heights' Tony-winning creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, will appear with her on Modern Family later this season as the inventor of an innovative dog-training technique who Gloria brings home to meet Jay (Ed O'Neill).
One hitch that could keep Sofia from her dream role: if the movie shoot, scheduled for this summer, stretches into the start of her sitcom's third season.
