Keck's Exclusives: Mad Men Wedding Gifts

Jon Hamm and Jessica Pare

Don and Betty Draper are so 1963. But 1966 is all about Don and Megan Draper, who wed during Mad Men's 17-month hiatus. What was the ceremony like? Creator Matthew Weiner says it was probably a quickie City Hall affair. "Yeah, Don's not a big party kind of guy," agrees Jon Hamm. "Considering it was Don's third wedding, it was probably something very private with just the kids... and maybe Roger. The honeymoon was probably in Niagara Falls — and a lot more fun!" Since Peggy indicated in the season premiere that she still owes her boss a present, I asked the cast what they think their characters would have gifted the happy newlyweds.

Christina Hendricks (Joan) "A nice serving tray for hostessing and some decorative toothpicks."

Elisabeth Moss (Peggy) "She would have asked Don for a raise first."

John Slattery (Roger) "Roger would have someone else pick out something very expensive. He already told Don to buy a Cadillac, so maybe an XKE Jaguar."

Vincent Kartheiser (Pete) "A Chip 'N' Dip. Dip in the middle; chips on the outside."

Robert Morse (Bert) "Nothing. All these young people getting married. They're crazy. It'll never last."

Kiernan Shipka (Sally) "A very little something like a Scrabble game since Megan was so much fun to play with when she was Sally's nanny."

Rich Sommer (Harry) "Something super-expensive, but ridiculous. Like a crystal ashtray."

Jared Harris (Lane) "A case of English single malt whiskey."

Jay Ferguson (Stan) "Were sex toys around back then? Actually, maybe Stan would play it safe with silky pajamas for him and a nightgown for her."

Aaron Staton (Ken) "Ken's from Vermont, so maybe maple syrup from his
family's farm."

January Jones (Betty) "Betty would struggle with giving something ironic or sweet, but in the end would probably give nothing."
