Keck's Exclusives: Desperate Housewives Casts Paul Young's New Wife

After a thorough search for Mary Alice Young's successor, Desperate Housewives has cast Emily Bergl to play the role of reformed menace Paul Young's new wife, Beth, who will prove instrumental in Paul's post-jail plans on Wisteria Lane. "I thought she was just great in the scene we read together," Mark Moses (Paul) told me at AMC's Mad Men season premiere (Mark also recurs on Mad Men as Duck Phillips). "We're both from the Midwest, and she brings so many great qualities to the role—vulnerability, insecurity and a certain strength. There are a lot of conflicting traits to this character, who finds herself in a very dysfunctional relationship. Perfect for Desperate Housewives!"
