How I Met Your Mother has cast Katie Holmes as the oft-referenced but never-seen character, Vulture reports.
The 32-year-old former Dawson's Creek star (and Mrs. Tom Cruise) will guest-star in a special Halloween episode of the CBS comedy, set to air next month.

As die-hard Mother fans know, the Slutty Pumpkin is a woman mentioned early in the series' first season who Ted (Josh Radnor) once met at a Halloween party but later lost touch with. "Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we've saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show's history," co-creator and executive producer Craig Thomas told the site, noting that the role was "literally six seasons in the making."
Holmes last appeared on the small screen in the miniseries The Kennedys. She will next appear in the Adam Sandler film, Jack and Jill.
