Did Katie Couric just spill the beans on the new American Idol judges?
The former Today and CBS Evening News host seems an unlikely candidate to get the news first, but in an interview airing on her new talk show, Katie, Couric seems to have the inside scoop.
Report: Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj nearing American Idol deals
When talking with former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, Couric asks her to weigh in on the new judges panel, whom she lists as Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, according to an early transcript released prior to the episode. When a surprised Lopez asked if that panel has been announced, Couric answers "yeah." So either she got a press release we didn't or her information isn't quite so confirmed. However, various outlets are reporting that Fox is set to announce the new judges on Friday — the same day Couric's interview with Lopez will air.
So far, only Carey and Jackson have been confirmed for the new season, with new additions Urban and Minaj said to be close to deals.
