Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes have split after nearly seven years of marriage.

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year," their lawyers said in a statement. "The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children."
The 34-year-old Oscar-winning actress married Mendes, the 44-year-old director of such films American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead and Revolutionary Road, in 2003. The two have a 6-year-old son, Joe. Winslet also has a 9-year-old daughter, Mia, from her previous marriage to Jim Threapleton.
