Here's news to sing about — or maybe write a song about? Ex-American Idol judge and songwriter Kara DioGuardi is a new mom, People reports.
DioGuardi, 42, and her husband, Mike McCuddy, welcomed son Greyson James through a gestational surrogate Thursday in Los Angeles. Greyson James Carroll McCuddy weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measured a little over 20 inches long. One of the newborn's middle names, Carroll, is in tribute to DioGuardi's late mother.

Greyson's birth comes after DioGuardi suffered multiple miscarriages and failed in vitro fertilization attempts to have a baby.
After spending two seasons at the Idol judges table, DioGuardi also judged the Bravo songwriting competition Platinum Hit in 2011.
