Justin Bieber took home several American Music Awards, while more than a dozen artists performed live — including, for the first time together, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys.

Among Bieber's prizes Sunday night was artist of the year. He beat mentor Usher and became the award's youngest recipient. The 16-year-old heartthrob also walked away with the favorite male artist and breakthrough artist awards.
Other notable wins went to Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift for favorite male and female country artists, respectively, and Usher who nabbed best soul/R&B male artist and album.
While the show was filled with a bevy of live performances from artists including Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Bon Jovi and Ke$ha, the most anticipated of the evening was that of the old boy bands. The two groups (which will be going on tour soon) closed the night with a vocal mash-up of each group's greatest hits and fancy choreography that had the audience on its feet singing and dancing along.
