Louis-Dreyfus will play Selina Meyer, a former senator who discovers that being vice president of the United States is nothing like she expected.
Best known for her role as Elaine Benes in Seinfeld, Louis-Dreyfus most recently concluded a five-season run on CBS' The New Adventures of Old Christine, for which she won an Emmy.
