John McCain to Letterman: Don't Want to Talk about "Bleeping" Campaign

Senator John McCain and David Letterman, Late Show with David Letterman

Unlike his last mea culpa appearance on The Late Show, John McCain was much more lighthearted during his segment on Thursday night, joking: "I don't want to talk about the bleeping campaign."

The former Republican presidential candidate sat down with David Letterman to talk about several topics: He praised President-elect Barack Obama for some of his staff choices, including Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton, and shared Letterman's shock over Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's scandal, reports the AP.

Letterman asked McCain whether he believed the disgraced Blagojevich was either stupid or nuts. "I think it's a rare combination of both," McCain replied.

When trying to transition into campaign talk, McCain smiled and said, "I don't want to talk about the bleeping campaign." Continuing his fake rant, he said, "Understand? If you think I'm going to go back to that bleeping situation, then bleep you."

Did you see McCain's appearance? Do you think he and Dave could take their act on the road?
