Jimmy Smits Signs on to NBC Legal Drama

Jimmy Smits will pull double duty as a co-executive producer and the star of an untitled legal drama pilot for NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, from John Eisendrath (Alias, Beverly Hills, 90210), chronicles a by-the-book Supreme Court Justice who steps down to fight constitutional injustices in private practice.

Smits is best known for playing Det. Bobby Simone on NYPD Blue, and won an Emmy in 1990 for L.A. Law. Just this year, he received his 12th career nomination for his season-long arc on Showtime's Dexter.
