Jewel, Ty Murray Welcome a Son

It's a boy for Jewel.
The singer and her husband, Ty Murray, welcomed son Kase Townes Monday in Texas, her rep confirms to TVGuide.com. The baby arrived at 7 p.m. and weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
"Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world," Jewel said in a statement. "We are overcome with happiness — it really is as great as everyone told us it would be — better even!"

The couple announced in January they were expecting. In March, Jewel, 36, was hit by a fire truck, but she and her unborn baby were not injured.
Jewel, who co-hosts Platinum Hit, and Murray, 41, married in 2008 and had been struggling to have a baby for two years.
