Jewel

Jewel will play June Carter Cash in the upcoming Lifetime biopic, The June Carter Cash Story, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Many people know about the legendary love story of Johnny and June, but June Carter Cash has her own epic journey filled with triumphs, tragedies, loves and losses," Lifetime executive Rob Sharenow said. "This movie will explore all aspects of the woman behind the icon, and we're thrilled Jewel will be playing the role."

The film, which stars Matt Ross (American Horror Story) as Johnny Cash, is based on the memoir Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash, written by the couple's son, John Carter Cash. Richard Friedenberg is adapting the book and Allison Anders will direct. Cash, along with Steven Michaels and Jonathan Koch, will executive-produce.

The June Carter Cash Story will mark Jewel's first acting role. She previously hosted Bravo's Platinum Hit, and appeared as herself in the film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and ABC's Men in Trees.
