Pauly D

It's time for Jersey Shore's Pauly DelVecchio to get ready for his close-up.

MTV has given a series commitment to an untitled spin-off focused on Pauly D, the network announced Wednesday.

"He's distinguished himself on-screen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can't help but want to hang out with," Chris Linn , MTV's executive vice president of programming and head of production, said in a statement. "We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that."

Although MTV did not offer the show's premise, Radar Online reported back in September that the spin-off would focus on the 28-year-old's day job as a DJ.

This year, DelVecchio was nominated for America's Best DJ and released his first single "Beat Dat Beat" on the Jersey Shore soundtrack.

Jersey Shore has been a ratings smash for MTV, hitting a series-high of 6.7 million viewers on Sept. 30 and becoming the highest-rated MTV series ever. The show returns for the second half of Season 2 on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 10/9c.
