Jeopardy! Who Won the Battle Between Man vs. Machine?

Jeopardy!

Not since the chess showdown between Garry Kasparov and Deep Blue has a competition between man and machine received so much attention.

IBM's supercomputer Watson took on former Jeopardy! champs Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter for their final matchup Wednesday. Jennings earned $24,000 overall and Rutter $21,600, winning prizes of $300,000 and $200,000 respectively.

But after the two hard-fought games spread over three nights, Watson emerged victorious, scoring $41,413 for its second game, bringing its cumulative winnings to $77,147. The grand prize of $1 million will go to charity.

Not to be outdone (again) by a computer, the men plan to donate half of their winnings to charity.

Ratings for the first two days of the competition were the show's best in almost six years. The competition was taped last month.
