Has Jennifer Love Fallen Out of Love?

Perhaps Ghost Whisperer Melinda's love life isn't the only one taking an unexpected turn. According to one online account, Jennifer Love Hewitt and actor Ross McCall (Crash) called off their engagement over the holidays.

"They're both really sad about this," an unnamed source close to the couple tells People. "Even their friends are surprised; they seemed really happy."

Indeed, just weeks ago McCall gushed to TVGuide.com about his bride-to-be, who had been named Sexiest Woman Alive last year by TV Guide. "You see this siren up on the screen and go, 'Oh my god.' But I see the inside of her, heart and soul," the Scotsman shared. "To have somebody in your life that makes you tick is really rare. It's been three years that we've been together, and she still takes my breath away!"

Love herself told TVGuide.com at the start of this TV season that she and McCall had set a wedding date, and that "the planning's almost done."

A spokesperson for McCall could not confirm the People story, nor had word of the allegedly broken engagement made it to the Ghost Whisperer production offices. Hewitt's publicist, meanwhile, has no comment on the People story.
