The Jeffersons' English neighbor, Harry Bentley, Dies

Paul Benedict, popular for his role as the English neighbor Harry Bentley on The Jeffersons, died December 1 on Martha's Vineyard at the age of 70, according to Variety.

Though Benedict was best known for his work on the well-known CBS sitcom that ran from 1975 to '85, his career, his career spanned much beyond it.

During the 1960s, Benedict began acting in the Theater Company of Boston alongside future stars, including Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino. The actor, often recognized for his outsized lower jaw, went on to appear in such movies as The Goodbye Girl, alongside Richard Dreyfuss, as well as numerous series, including Kojak, Maude, All in the Family and Guiding Light.

Benedict was also a regular in Christopher Guest movies such as A Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman, and Spinal Tap.
