Pilot Season: Parenthood's Jason Ritter Joins Fox Comedy Friends & Family

We have some potentially bad news for Parenthood fans on Team Mark: Jason Ritter has been cast as the lead in the Fox pilot Friends & Family.

The comedy, based on the British series Gavin & Stacey, tells the story of a couple's long-distance romance that is constantly disrupted by their friends and family. Ritter will play Gavin, a neurotic, twentysomething good guy who's about to go on his first real date with Stacey, a co-worker he's become close with through Skype and Facebook.
Ritter, 32, has recurred on NBC's Parenthood since Season 1. Most recently he played a love interest to Sarah (Lauren Graham) who ultimately chose Hank (Ray Romano) over him in the season finale.
