Hugh Dancy has landed one of two leads in NBC's upcoming Hannibal series.
The project, which NBC ordered a 13-episode first season of last month, is described as a contemporary thriller series featuring characters from Thomas Harris' bestselling Red Dragon novel. In the show, Dr. Hannibal Lecter and FBI agent Will Graham (Dancy) will be re-introduced at the beginning of their relationship. The series is written and executive-produced by Pushing Daisies' Bryan Fuller, who is also penning the Munsters remake for NBC.
NBC orders Hannibal straight to series
In the 2002 film Red Dragon, Graham was played by Ed Norton opposite Anthony Hopkins' Lecter. Ex-CSI star William Petersen played Graham in the original adaptation of the novel, the 1986 box office bomb Manhunter.
Dancy, who earned an Emmy nomination for his work in HBO's Elizabeth I, most recently recurred on the last season of The Big C.
