Desperate Housewives Searching For the New Edie

Edie Britt is returning to Desperate Housewives — well, sort of.
A year after the shocking death of Wisteria Lane's resident bad girl, the show is looking to cast a new Edie-type character, Zap2it reports. "We agree that [Edie] was a great person to have on the lane," executive producer Bob Daily tells the site. "The sort of vixen troublemaker. That's a great person to have on a television show."

The new character will appear later this spring, but could potentially recur in the fall. Daily says they are hoping to cast someone different from Nicollette Sheridan, who was on the series for the show's first five seasons.
"I think Nicollette was so great as that sort of blonde bombshell," Daily told Zap2it. "I think we'd probably not go in that direction again just because we've had that."
