Kandi Burris and Ashley Jewell

Police have arrested a man in the killing of Ashley Jewell, the former fiancé of Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kandi Burruss, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The paper said Fredrick Richardson was arrested Saturday and charged with voluntary manslaughter in Jewell's death. Jewell's death was caused by a severe head injury he endured during a fight outside a strip club Friday night.

Burruss and Jewell ended their engagement earlier this year.

"Kandi is devastated, as she is also mourning the death of her uncle, Ralph Leslie, and is attending the funeral today," her rep said. "She has no statement to make at this time and asks for privacy."

Jewell, nicknamed A.J., appeared in a handful episodes on the current season of the Bravo reality program, during which he and Burruss were engaged.

Bravo also released a statement saying, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Kandi and A.J.'s family during this tragic time."
