"Hero of the Hudson" and Crew to Appear on Letterman

Chesley Sullenberger

Capt. Chesley Sullenberger already has an invitation to visit the set of Lost.

Now, he and his crew from US Airways Flight 1549, which safely crash-landed in New York City's Hudson River Jan. 15, have an invite from David Letterman. The group, who saved the lives of all 155 passengers aboard the flight, will appear on the Late Show Tuesday, Feb. 10 (11:35 pm/ET, CBS).

Sullenberger, First Officer Jeffrey B. Skiles, and flight attendants Donna Dent, Doreen Welsh and Sheila Dail were forced to make an emergency landing when Flight 1549 encountered a "double bird strike," in which birds caused both engines to fail. Sullenberger and the crew landed on the water and evacuated passengers.

CBS' Katie Couric, meanwhile, secured the first television interview with Sullenberger, for a 60 Minutes segment to air Feb. 8.
