Report: Ben Harper Files for Divorce from Laura Dern

Musician Ben Harper has filed for divorce from actress Laura Dern after five years of marriage, according to TMZ.com.
In the divorce papers, filed Friday, Harper claims he and Dern separated back in January. The papers cite irreconcilable differences as the cause for the divorce.

Harper, 40, is a two-time Grammy winner. He married Dern, 43, in 2005, and they have a 9-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. The actress, whose credits include Citizen Ruth as well as two Jurassic Park films, starred in the episode of the '90s ABC sitcom Ellen as the woman to whom Ellen DeGeneres comes out. She won a supporting-actress Golden Globe for her performance in 2008's Recount.
Harper is seeking joint custody of the couple's two children, and he has asked the judge to deny Dern spousal support, according to TMZ.
A rep for Harper had no comment on the report, and an e-mail to Dern's rep was not immediately returned.
