Hargitay on SVU Fate: "I Have a Lot of Faith It's Going to Work Out"

While ongoing contract negotiations continue to leave the fate of Law & Order: SVU's two leads in question, Mariska Hargitay is optimistic.

"I hope so," she told Access Hollywood, when asked if she'll be returning as the NBC cop drama's Olivia Benson. "We're all trying to work it out and I have a lot of faith it's going to work out."

Hargitay's co-star, Christopher Meloni (Elliot Stabler), agreed: "It's a good vibe on the set," he said. "We all love each other. We're still happy with the stories that we're telling and you know, we'll see how it works out."

In recent weeks, negotiations between the actors and the network have been described as aggressive. "The show's coming back — with or without them," Marc Graboff, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, said during Monday's upfront presentation.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her future on SVU, at least Hargitay is again enjoying good health, after suffering pneumothorax (a collapsed lung) this winter. "I feel great," she said. "I've bounced back [after I] had a scary couple of months."

Are you as optimistic as the SVU stars that they'll be back?
