The Hangover II Trailer Yanked from Theaters

The Hangover II

Warner Bros. has pulled the trailer for The Hangover II from theaters over concerns about some racy content.

The trailer, which premiered last week online and before screenings of Source Code, featured a number of gags, including a monkey simulating a sex act. Although the studio said it received no complaints about the trailer, the sticking point seems to be that the perhaps R-rated imagery was airing in front of a film that received only a PG-13 rating.

"In our haste to meet the placement schedule for this trailer, we failed to properly vet the final version with the MPAA," Warner Bros. said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the news. "We acted immediately to correct the mistake and removed the trailer from screens."

A version of the original trailer is expected to run before screenings of the R-rated Scream 4, which premieres April 15. The Hangover II, directed by Todd Phillips and starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifiankis, hits theaters May 26.
