Sex and the City 2.0? HBO Picks Up Series About Women in Their 20s

HBO has picked up the comedy series Girls, the network announced Friday.

Created by and starring Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture), Girls will provide a comic look at the humiliations and triumphs of a group of women in their early 20s. Filming is set to begin this spring.

Girls will star Jemima Kirke (Tiny Furniture), Allison Williams (American Dreams), Adam Driver (You Don't Know Jack) and Zosia Mamet (Mad Men).

Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner will serve as executive producers, along with Dunham.

Dunham, 24, has earned critical buzz for writing, directing and starring in last year's Tiny Furniture. The film has earned three Independent Spirit Award nominations, including best first feature and best first screenplay.
