Vanessa Williams

Forget Ellen and Tyra — Guiding Light and a bunch of Muppets are set to take center stage at Sunday's 36th Daytime Emmy Awards.

Hosted by Vanessa Williams, the show will honor two daytime staples during the broadcast — one of which is bidding farewell. Light, which ends its run on Sept. 18, will receive a tribute in honor of the soap opera's 72 years on the air.

Sesame Street, which celebrates its 40th year on air this year, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The educational series is already the Daytime Emmys' most decorated series with 118 statuettes. Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Gordon and Oscar the Grouch will perform on the show.

Sesame Street's home, PBS, leads all networks with 56 nominations, while ABC follows with 50. All My Children is the most nominated soap with 19 nods, including the big kahuna: Outstanding Drama Series. It will vie for the top prize against The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives.

On the talk-show front, Ellen DeGeneres goes for a five-peat as Outstanding Talk Show Host against Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, Rachael Ray, and the ladies of The View.
