Dramas Grey's Anatomy and Mad Men and the freshman comedies Glee and Modern Family were among the nominees for the 21st annual GLAAD Media awards.
Also in the running for best drama series: Brothers & Sisters, True Blood and Skins. And the other best comedy series nominees: GREEK, United States of Tara and Beautiful People.

Among series not featuring a regular lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender character, Private Practice was nominated for two individual episodes, as were Parks and Recreation, Supernatural and The Listener.
Ellen DeGeneres received two nods — one for an episode of her own show and one for her and Portia de Rossi's appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Other chat fests nominated for an individual episode were The Tyra Banks Show, The Joy Behar Show and The Dr. Oz Show.
Kathy Griffin earned a nom for outstanding reality series for Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, along with The Amazing Race 15, Making His Band, The Real World: Brooklyn and RuPaul's Drag Race. Soap operas All My Children, As The World Turns, Guiding Light and One Life to Live were all nominated for outstanding daily drama. The nominees for outstanding TV movie or mini-series include Prayers for Bobby, Pedro, Torchwood: Children of Earth and An Englishman in New York.

The movie contenders: Everybody's Fine, I Love You, Man, Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire, A Single Man and Taking Woodstock.
GLAAD also will honor Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon with the Vito Russo Award. The award is presented to a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a difference in promoting equal rights. The Emmy winner spoke at October's National Equality March in Washington in support of marriage equality.
The awards will be handed out at three different ceremonies: March 13 in New York, April 17 in Los Angeles and June 5 in San Francisco.
