CBS' The Good Wife is not just good — it's excellent, according to the 16 Peabody board members who included the show among the recipients for this year's Peabody Awards.
FX's Justified, TNT's Men of a Certain Age and HBO's The Pacific and Temple Grandin are among other honorees. The awards were announced Thursday by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. They'll be distributed May 23 at a luncheon in New York hosted by Larry King.

The Peabodys, now in their 70th year, are "determined by one criterion — 'Excellence,'" according to the awards' official site. Said Peabody director Horace Newcomb: "The Peabody Awards were established with deep respect for the critical role played by electronic media in contemporary society and culture. The annual announcement of the recipients continues in that spirit to recognize work that sets the highest standards for the media industries."
This year's Peabodys cited a record high 39 winners.
