Has HBO Already Renewed Girls for a Third Season?

Girls

Season 2 of HBO's buzz magnet Girls doesn't start until January, but apparently the comedy is already revving up for its third season.

Judd Apatow, who executive-produces the series, implied as much in an interview Monday. "We're about to shoot the third season of Girls. Season 2 starts in January," the writer-director told Hot Button.

HBO, however, declined to comment, only saying in a statement to The Huffington Post: "We're looking forward to the launch of Season 2 and hope to have good news shortly thereafter."

Girls, starring creator Lena Dunham as a twenty-something woman living in Brooklyn and trying to navigate life after college, premiered last April and garnered five Emmy nominations for its first season, including Best Comedy Series.

Season 2 of Girls premieres on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 9/8c on HBO.
