"Baker Street" Singer Gerry Rafferty Dies at 63

Singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty, best known for such hits as "Stuck in the Middle with You" and "Baker Street," has died after a long battle with an unspecified illness, according to The Associated Press. He was 63.

The Scottish musician battled alcoholism and was hospitalized in England with kidney failure in November 2008, according to USA Today.
Rafferty, born in Glasgow, played with Billy Connolly's folk group The Humblebums before co-founding the soft-rock group Stealer's Wheel. That group recorded the 1972 single "Stuck in the Middle with You," which had a resurgence in popularity when it was used in a pivotal scene in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.
Following his work with Stealer's Wheel, Rafferty perused a successful solo career in which he released the 1978 hit "Baker Street," which has since been covered by artists including The Foo Fighters and country singer Waylon Jennings. (There's also a slew of cheesy dance remixes.)
Rafferty's last album, Another World, was released in 2000.
