The memoir, titled I'm Walking as Straight as I Can: Transcending Disability in Hollywood and Beyond, also discusses Jewell's battle with cerebral palsy. The actress made history by being the first disabled person to have a recurring role in prime-time television when she landed the role of Cousin Geri on The Facts of Life in 1980. She remained on the '80s sitcom for four seasons.

Jewell's book, available in stores April 1, will also detail her money problems, her relationships with her backstabbing agents, substance abuse issues and recovery, and her return to TV in HBO's Deadwood.
