George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman has been released from jail following his arrest on assault and battery charges, The Associated Press reports.

On Monday, Zimmerman was arrested after police responded to a disturbance report from a house in Apopka, Fla. He was then booked into jail and his bond was set at $9,000. As part of Zimmerman's releaseon Tuesday, he must wear an electronic monitor, keep his distance from guns, and stay away from the girlfriend who accused him of the assault. An arraignment has been set for Jan. 7.

Earlier this year, Zimmerman was acquitted of murder after fatally shooting unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida in 2012.
