Ratings: Game of Thrones’ Season Finale Hits Series High, Longmire Debuts Strong

Iain Glen, Emilia Clarke

Game of Thrones closed out its second season on a series high Sunday, nabbing 4.2 million viewers for the season finale.

Those numbers were up notable from the 3.9 million that tuned in for the Season 2 premiere, and Season 1 finale, which grabbed 3 million viewers.

Adding the additional 910,000 viewers that tuned in for the 11/10c repeat, the finale grabbed a total of 5.1 million viewers. That high viewership also helped Veep to its second most-watched episode and Girls, which also hit a series high.

Elsewhere on cable, A&E's new Western series, Longmire, came out of the gate strong. The series wrangled 4.1 million viewers to become the cable network's most-watched original series premiere ever, as well as the top scripted cable series debut of 2012.
