Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells

The 2012-2013 TV lineup features the highest percentage of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters on broadcast networks in prime time, GLAAD announced Friday.

According to the organization's annual "Where We Are On TV" study, LGBT characters make up 4.4 percent of regulars on scripted series this season on the five broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW), up from less than 3 percent last year. ABC leads the way with 5.2 percent, while CBS is last with 2.8 percent.

The increase was buoyed by such new shows as Partners and The New Normal, which feature lead gay characters, though Glee was named the most inclusive broadcast show, featuring six LGBT characters.

The number of LGBT characters on cable television was also up from last year, with True Blood being named the most inclusive show for its six gay, lesbian or bisexual characters.
