Friends alum David Schwimmer is eyeing a return to television in ABC's comedy pilot Irreversible, TVGuide.com has learned.
Based on an Israeli format, the comedy centers on an eccentric, self-absorbed couple and the trials and tribulations they often bring upon themselves. Schwimmer will play one half of that couple, a pessimistic writer named Andy.

Best known for playing Ross Gellar on NBC's Friends, Schwimmer has guest-starred on 30 Rock and Web Therapy, in addition to lending his voice to the Madagascar franchise. If Irreversible is picked up to series, this would make his first series regular role since Friends.
The actor will also serve as a producer on the comedy, written by Segahl Avin, co-creator of the original series, Bilti Hafich. Rescue Me's Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer will executive-produce.
