Fox Cancels Alcatraz and The Finder, Renews Touch
Kiefer Sutherland, Sarah Jones, George Stults
Good news and bad news at Fox on Wednesday.
The network axed freshman series Alcatraz and The Finder, while renewing Kiefer Sutherland's Touch, according to Deadline and their sister site TVLine. Fox declined to comment until their Upfront presentation next week.
Fall TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
Alcatraz, the mystery series from J.J. Abrams, was expected not to return after its finale drew only 4.7 million viewers and a 1.5 18-49 demo rating, down from the 9.9 million and 3.3 rating in the series premiere.
The Finder's most recent outing drew 3.96 million and a 1.0 rating, down from its quiet 5.45 million and 1.7 rating series premiere.
In comparison, the renewed Touch, from Heroes' Tim Kring, drew 6.84 million viewers in its latest outing with a 2.1 rating, up 11 percent over the previous week. That's still down, however, from the 12.01 million viewers who tuned in for the series premiere back in January.
Fox orders Kevin Williamson drama, Mindy Kaling comedy and three more to series
The news comes on the heels of Fox ordering five new shows to series, including Kevin Williamson's serial killer thriller and The Mob Doctor dramas, and Mindy Kaling's It's Messy, Ben & Kate and The Goodwin Games from the How I Met Your Mother producers.
Are you happy Touch will be back for another season? Are you bummed about the Finder and Alcatraz cancellations?
