Fox Adapting BBC Show Linda Green For U.S. Audiences

Alex Borstein

Ten years after it aired in the U.K., the former BBC series Linda Green is being adapted for the U.S. Family Guy star Alex Borstein is writing the project as a one-hour comedy/drama at Fox.

Linda Green centers on the title character and her thirtysomething friends as they navigate love, marriage and life in Boston. Linda and her pals aren't good people—but they're trying to be better.

The original show aired as a half-hour on the BBC in 2001 and 2002, with 20 episodes produced. Here, Fox is looking to turn it into an hour. It's currently set up as a script at the network.

Borstein, who voices family matriarch Lois Griffin on Family Guy, is perhaps best known for her lengthy stint as a cast member on Mad TV. She also has served as a producer on Showtime's Shameless (another U.K. adaptation), writing several episodes of that series.

Paul Abbott, who created the show with Nicola Shindler in the U.K., will get an executive producer credit on the show, along with Borstein and BBC Worldwide's Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner. Sony TV and BBC Worldwide are behind the show.
