Family Ties Star Brian Bonsall Arrested Over Assault

Brian Bonsall
Former Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall has been arrested in Colorado on a third-degree assault charge, according to police.
Boulder police said Bonsall, who played Andy Keaton (Michael J. Fox's younger brother) on the '80s series, got into a fight Saturday and hit a friend with part of a broken stool, The Associated Press reports. Police said the 28-year-old former child star told officers he had been drinking and didn't remember the incident.

Jail records show Bonsall — who's had several run-ins with authorities and substance abuse problems in the last decade — was being held at Boulder County Jail. He's due in court Wednesday.
Bonsall was sentenced to probation in 2007 for assaulting his girlfriend, but violated the terms a year later, police said.
