NBC Execs Discuss Lost Life, the Big Medium Rumor and Other Hot Topics

The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney, Medium's Patricia Arquette and Life's Damian Lewis

An assemblage of NBC execs, led by NBC Entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman, hosted an "infront" presentation to press and advertisers. After touting their wares, both existing and new, the panel fielded questions from the press.

Here is what they had to say about:

Law & Order: SVU
Already picked up for another season, the burning question is whether the network can strike new deals with series leads Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. "The show is coming back; we hope they come back with it," said Marc Graboff, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment. Asked if SVU would cast new leads if those contract talks stall, Graboff added only, "The show's coming back — with or without them."

Medium
When asked about the story that said that Medium's Season 6 pick-up was announced over the weekend, Silverman countered, "Not by us." Graboff added, "[It was] obviously misreported." More NBC pick-ups could be announced on May 19.

The Biggest Loser
The reality series seems to have as many champions as it does pounds shed. It will definitely call Tuesday home next season, though whether it will still run as a two-hour block is up in the air. Instead, NBC may use the second hour to tee up one of the new series on its slate.

Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday
Asked whether this spin-off can find sufficient fodder during a non-election year, Silverman countered, "Can you imagine [covering] Joe Biden and swine flu this week?" Despite promotional shots featuring Kristen Wiig alongside Seth Meyers, Silverman said it's not for certain they will share the Thursday Weekend Update desk.

Life
At least one NBC bubble show has had its hope popped. Life, which had been seeking a Season 3 pick-up, "will not be back," said Graboff.

Still to come: Silverman talks to TVGuide.com about the "amazing" Subway Save Chuck fan campaign. Also: NBC trots out the data supporting Jay Leno's nightly 10-o'clock showcase.
