Fahrenheit 451 Author Ray Bradbury Dies at 91

Ray Bradbury

Science fiction-fantasy author Ray Bradbury passed away at the age of 91, confirms The Associated Press.

According to his daughter, Alexandra Bradbury, he died Tuesday night. The cause of death has not been released.

Bradbury was the author of many literary classics including Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Throughout his career, Bradbury wrote for television programs including The Twilight Zone and the Ray Bradbury Theater in addition to scripting the 1956 film adaptation of Moby Dick.

Though he used a wheelchair after suffering a stroke in 1999, Bradbury continued to write every day from his home office in Los Angeles' Cheviot Hills neighborhood into his 90s.

Bradbury was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Ill. He leaves behind four daughters. Bradbury's wife of 56 years, Marguerite Bradbury, died in 2003.
