A nearly unrecognizable Evangeline Lilly showed off a new hairstyle at the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in New Zealand Wednesday. The former Lost star, known for her flowing brunette locks, now dons a super short, wavy look tinged with blond highlights.

Lilly stars as elf Tauriel in the second and third installments of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, which are expected to be released in 2013 and 2014. It's unclear whether she got the haircut for the movie or afterward, but an image of her character on Lord of the Rings fansite TheOneRing.net more closely resembles her "before" look.
