Ellen DeGeneres

A New Hampshire waitress who paid for two National Guard soldiers' lunch received a big tip from Ellen DeGeneres on Friday, People reports.

Sarah Hoidahl picked up the $27.75 tab of the two soldiers affected by the government shutdown. After hearing about Hoidahl's good deed, the TV host repaid her kindness with $27.75 in cash, a 50-inch TV and a check for $10,000.

DeGeneres learned of Hoidahl's act after the New Hampshire National Guardposted the story on its Facebook. The story spread online, eventually reachingEllen producers who invited the waitress out to Hollywood.

Overwhelmed, Hoidahl buried her face in her hands and thanked DeGeneres, who kept repeating, "You're a good person."
