Elizabeth Taylor Laid to Rest in Small, Family-Only Ceremony
Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest Thursday in a private ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., according to The Associated Press.
Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79
The 79-year-old actress was interred within the Great Mausoleum, which is also the final resting place of other Hollywood legends like Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Walt Disney and good friend Michael Jackson. Although the media gathered outside and at least one news helicopter hovered overhead, the private ceremony was not a showy affair. Only family attended the one-hour service, which did not include a funeral procession.
Taylor died Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles surrounded by her four children, Taylor's rep said. Battling ill health and scoliosis in her later years, Taylor had been hospitalized for the past six weeks for congestive heart failure. She underwent a heart procedure to repair a leaky valve in October 2009.
