Ed Helms shared the stage for his first time hosting Saturday Night Live, welcoming old Daily Show co-stars Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert, among other surprise guests.
Carell and Colbert, who voiced the SNL cartoon "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" in the '90s, helped bring the popular sketch to life for the first time. However this time, Carell and Colbert played two of the villains — along with Helms — while superheroes Ace and Gary were portrayed by Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon:

One of the other star-studded sketches of the night was the fictional BET talk show What Up With That, which featured the night's musical guest, Paul Simon as well as Chris Colfer and Bill Hader as Lindsay Buckingham. The real Buckingham also came onstage to perform:
Helms appeared solo in a campaign ad (paid for by Land's End, natch) to mock the less familiar potential GOP candidates:
Osama bin Laden's death was the subject of the cold open again with a report on CNN's The Situation Room showing Fred Armisen's President Obama continually enjoying the accomplishment (and maybe enjoying it too much):
