Ed Asner Signs On to CMT Comedy Pilot

Television veteran Ed Asner has been cast in CMT's comedy pilot Regular Joe, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Asner — who voiced the lead character in last year's hit animated feature Up — will star as an outspoken father who recently began dating after separating from his longtime wife. Tom Arnold has also been cast to play his son Joe. Liza Snyder will play Joe's wife.
The 80-year-old actor is best known for his Emmy-winning roles in television classics The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Lou Grant.
