Fan-fiction writer-turned-global sensation E.L. James has toppedForbes Magazine's list of top-earning authors.
James, who turned her Twilight fan-fiction into the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, earned a whopping $95 million between June 2012 and June 2013. $5 million of that earnings was for a film adaptation, which is slated to hit theatres in August 2014.

Prolific writer James Patterson was knocked down to second place earning a cool $91 million. According to Forbes, one of every 17 hardcovers sold domestically is one of his titles.
In third place is Hunger Games writer Suzanne Collins with $55 million. TV personality Bill O'Reilly follows with $28 million. His books Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the New York Times non-fiction best-sellers list.

Danielle Steel took the fifth spot, earning $26 million. Throughout her four decades as an author, Steel has published 128 titles and has sold more than 600 million copies of her books.
