Downton Abbey's Rose Leslie Cast in Game of Thrones

Rose Leslie

Rose Leslie, who was last seen leaving Downton Abbey as the housemaid-turned-secretary Gwen, will be trading the British period drama for HBO's Game of Thrones, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Leslie will play Ygritte, a wildling woman who travels with Mance Rayder and crosses paths with Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Physically, the Scottish actress is the perfect fit for Ygritte, whose red hair is seen as lucky among the wildings, who describe such redheads as "kissed by fire."

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news.
