Knowing how to milk a good string of publicity, Donald Trump plans to make an announcement about an announcement on his presidential bid on the season finale of Celebrity Apprentice.
Bill Cosby on Trump's presidential bid: He's full of it
"On the May 22 season finale of Celebrity Apprentice, Mr. Trump may announce the time and place of a press conference at which time he will make a statement as to whether or not he will run for president of the United States," Trump adviser, Michael Cohen, said in a statement.
Trump — who's tied with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for first place in the GOP polls — cannot use a network show to announce his presidential intentions, so whatever he says on the live Celebrity Apprentice finale will have to be vetted by NBC.
"I believe I can say I will be announcing my decision in a few days," Trump told the New York Times. "But before I did that I would get the approval of NBC."
Donald Trump's birth certificate stunt backfires
Until Trump formally declares his plan to run, NBC has no obligation to offer equal time to another candidate. If he were to make a formal move now, the network would have to stop airing Celebrity Apprentice.
As for the show's finale, Trump plans to, well, make it all about him.
"I might ask the two finalists if I should run for president," he said. "Of course, if they're intelligent they'll have to say yes, since I'm about to fire one of them."
Do you think Trump will run? And what will Bill Cosby have to say about this?
