Donald Trump to Moderate GOP Debate

If Donald Trump can't be president, at least he can moderate a presidential debate.

The Apprentice boss and former presidential hopeful has teamed with Newsmax, a conservative magazine and news web site, to moderate a presidential debate in Des Moines, IA on Dec. 27, according to The New York Times.

"Our readers and the grass roots really love Trump," said Christopher Ruddy, chief executive of Newsmax Media. "They may not agree with him on everything, but they don't see him as owned by the Washington establishment, the media establishment."

It's unclear which Republican candidates will be participating in the debate as their invitations were sent out Friday, the same day as the announcement of Trump moderating.

Trump began dropping hints in March that he might run for the nation's highest office — and he ranked high among potential Republican candidates in early polls. However, he announced in May that he would not run, but left the door open to do so if the Republican candidates did not impress him.
